RHYTHM AND FLAVOR PRODUCTIONS

Mike Anderson and Laurelann Porter are, collectively, The Rhythm & The Flavor. With Laurelann on sultry, smooth, bluesy vocals and Mike accompanying her on acoustic guitar they have developed a sound that stems from what they both believe to be the roots of all culture: the rhythm and the flavor. Performing a mix of original songs and pop music covers from the decades, especially the 80s, they seek to reinvent familiar songs by breaking them down to their core essence and offering loungey-blusey versions of some hidden gems and some favorite classics. When people have demanded to know “But who is the flavor and who is the rhythm?” Laurelann responds: “I’m the flavor, of course!”

Game On Game Off, an immersive, improv-based show created by Arizona-based artists Mike Anderson and Laurelann Porter. Inspired by our favorite game show when we were both kids, the show takes a “Noises Off” approach to looking at comedy from the front and back stage areas. Zany and fun entertainment for all. Game On Game Off is currently on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We really miss our GOGO crowd, actors, patrons, and the good times. Stay tuned here for details about how and when we plan to re-open the Game On Game Off performance schedule.

Fortissimo (Fridays at Five with Flavor): Laurelann (aka The Flavor from The Rhythm and The Flavor) shares her steps in a journey towards wellness. When pandemic reality brought everything to a head, Laurelann took a medical leave to focus on her mental, emotional, and physical well-being.  (Available YouTube)

Mike and Laurelann have several writing projects in the works, including some feature film scripts available for option.

Mike and Laurelann have collaborated on several live theatre projects in the Phoenix area. With a synergy of purpose, sometimes Laurelann directs and Mike designs. Sometimes they both design sound and media. And sometimes one of them works alone on design projects.
